November 1, 2019
Annapolis Junction, M.D. – With hands-on demonstrations, in-booth celebrity appearances, a custom vehicle and a product giveaway, ESAB Welding & Cutting Products offers an action-packed experience at SEMA 2019 in booth 21601 (Central Hall, Racing Annex), held at the Las Vegas Convention Center Nov. 5 – Nov. 8. Exhibit visitors who participate in a hands-on demo qualify to enter the Win with ESAB prize drawing at the end of the show, which provides a chance to win a Rebel™ EMP 215ic multi-process welder or a Thermal Dynamics® Cutmaster® 60i plasma cutter.
Get Under the Hood
“Live-arc exhibits are the best way for visitors to see, try and learn about welding and cutting technology,” says Steven Molenda, Director of Global Marketing Communications and Strategies, ESAB. “Our philosophy is to let the arc performance and ease-of-use of our equipment speak for itself.”
Hands-on opportunities are highlighted by the ability to TIG weld aluminum, steel or stainless with Rebel EMP 205ic AC/DC, a compact, portable, all-process welder that also has outputs for MIG, flux cored and Stick welding. Other products available for live demos include Rebel EMP 285ic and 215ic multi-process welders, the ET 186i AC/DC and ET 220i AC/DC TIG/Stick welders and the Cutmaster® 40 and 58 manual plasma cutters.
Cutmaster 40, which launches early next year, uses ESAB’s next generation power conversion platform to deliver even more power-per-pound. Weighing 22 pounds yet serving up 40 amps of cutting power at 40 percent duty cycle, Cutmaster 40 offers best-of-class cutting performance on 115V – 230V primary power. On 230V power, it has a recommended cut and pierce capacity on 1/2 in. steel and a maximum sever on 1 in. steel. On 115V primary, it delivers a recommended cut and pierce on 3/8-in. steel.
Ian Johnson — professional fabricator, off-road expert and host of the show Four Wheeler on Motor Trend TV — will appear every day in the ESAB booth. Johnson is an official ESAB spokesperson in his fifth consecutive year working directly with booth visitors at the SEMA show. Over the years, he has improved the welding and cutting skills of hundreds of people, working alongside ESAB experts.
“Whether visitors have no fabrication experience or are seasoned professionals, ESAB welcomes everyone to get under the hood and personally experience ESAB equipment,” says Molenda. “Ian’s background as a technical instructor enables him to answer just about any question, whether welding or off-road related.”
Ultimate Mobile Fabrication
For those who work in the field, check out the ultimate mobile welding truck in the ESAB booth. It’s the brainchild of James Flatman, a member of the ESAB Elite group of skilled fabricators and owner of Notion Fabrications, which builds vehicles for the overlanding/mobile response market. A ground-up reboot of a 2001 Ford F250, the mobile welding truck features a rebuilt diesel motor, new transmission, updated suspension, a new interior and a custom aluminum flatbed.
According to Flatman, the mobile welding truck is different than most SEMA builds. “Many will sell their build after the show and get ready for the next one,” says Flatman. “I jokingly call this my blue collar build because I’m going to use it as my daily work truck. Then on the weekends, I’ll use it as a getaway for my family to go camping.”
