Annapolis Junction, Md. – For those who need long service life for equipment used in harsh, abrasive environments, Stoody, an ESAB brand, offers a full line of crushed tungsten carbide particles for hardfacing applications. Introducing or “dropping” granular tungsten carbide into the weld puddle delivers a dense matrix cross sections filled with tungsten carbide particles for excellent resistance to extreme abrasive environments. Typical applications include ground-engaging tools, boring stabilizers, undercarriage track pads, recycling shredding hammers and armor plates. “Adding carbides to the weld puddle can decrease material loss by more than 70% compared to materials without added carbide ...
Annapolis Junction, Md. – ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has introduced Marathon Pac™ Ultra, a new 1,100-lb. bulk welding wire drum, that features a robust outer box and reinforced corners for stabilizing the inner drum to prevent wire movement during shipping. Marathon Pac Ultra retains ESAB’s trademarked octagonal inner drum, known since 1989 as the industry benchmark, as well as ESAB’s reverse coiling technology to ensure that the wire comes out straight for greater process stability, less spatter and better targeting, positioning the wire at the center of the weld joint. Marathon Pac Ultra holds 22 percent more wire than the previous ESAB drums and 100 lbs. more than competitive drums. ...

EXATON 79S neutral flux for 625-type alloy strip cladding Lowers strip costs and cladding time by up to one-third
To create a weld metal deposit with the same metallurgy as the filler metal, Exaton, an ESAB brand, has introduced Exaton 79S flux, a neutral, very high basic agglomerated flux for electroslag strip cladding. It was designed especially for use with Exaton Ni60 strip, a nickel-based strip used to produce a weld overlay with good corrosion resistance and high-temperature properties for petrochemical, oil and gas applications. “The formulation of Exaton 79S enables users to complete the cladding process in fewer passes, saving customers approximately one-third of the cost in strip and manpower compared to the other fluxes used with alloy 625-type strips,” says Paolo Torchiana, Global Product ...
