ESAB Products Deliver "Monster" Results on Discovery Channel Programs

From the Monster Garage to the Monster House, ESAB welding and cutting products help expert crews “change things” on hit Discovery Channel programs. Monster Garage, the show that transforms “ordinary vehicles into extraordinary machines,” made another change last January – to ESAB “yellow”! Since then, colorful host Jesse James and the hand-picked crews have been creating their monster-osities with our equipment and filler metals. Fans of Monster Garage know that welding and cutting play a crucial role in helping the Garage-sters cut, chop and weld – turning a “stock” vehicle into some just-to-see-if-we-can-do-it alter ego machine. Some of the show’s more recent projects include making a 1,000 hp dragster from a New York City hot dog cart and creating a police patrol car with its own donut shop on board.

A newer addition to Discovery Channel’s lineup, Monster House also transforms things – people’s houses! But it’s way more than redecorating. As the tagline – Less Makeover. More Takeover – says, the show format involves a total transformation of someone’s house into a home with a theme – such as a tropical paradise, medieval castle or Spanish hacienda. With the unique fixtures and installations used in the “Monster” houses, welding and cutting equipment joins the buzz saws, hammers and other traditional tools of the renovation trade. When host and “Monster” foreman Steve Watson – and the special crews selected to create a particular themed house – need to weld or cut, it’s ESAB on the set.

ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has provided Discovery Channel with a variety of welding and cutting equipment and filler metals, including OXWELD® Trade Master gas outfits, MultiMaster® 260 Pulse multi-process machines – with .035 Mig 6 wire on 44 lb. spools, Heliarc® 161 and Heliarc® 352 TIG/Stick welders - with All-State 275 electrodes in cut lengths, plus PowerCut®-650 and PowerCut®-1500 plasma cutters. With this diverse selection, crews can perform virtually any welding/cutting process, as well as light to heavy duty tasks.

At the end of their arduous week-long projects, crew members on Monster Garage are given T-shirts and caps, plus rebate offers on ESAB equipment. Monster House participants are rewarded with tool prize packages. The prize package includes their choice of an ESAB Handy Plasma 125 cutter, Miniarc 150 tig/stick machine, and OXWELD Trademaster DLX gas welding & cutting outfit.
