ESAB Heliarc 161 Power Source Provides Square Wave

AC Output for Improved Cleaning, No Rectification

Florence, SC – ESAB Welding & Cutting Products presents its new Heliarc 161 portable inverter-based precision AC/DC TIG/Stick Power Source.

Heliarc 161’s square wave AC output provides superior welding with improved cleaning and no rectification. The power source also provides an AC wave balance control that allows the operator to adjust from maximum cleaning to maximum penetration. An arc force control feature provides further fine-tuning of weld penetration for stick welding. Heliarc 161 provides features for two-stroke, non-HF starting or four-stroke with HF starting and a trigger lock. Direct connections for a TIG torch and electrode holder are provided for maximum convenience. The machine also provides an adjustable preflow and postflow gas control to help protect the weld area and extend tungsten life.

The Heliarc 161 is the newest in ESAB’s line of Heliarc power supplies. It is rated at 160 amps @ 16.4 v at 40% duty cycle for TIG and 160 amps @ 26 v at 35% duty cycle for stick. The Heliarc line’s 100% solid state design eliminates output drift, lowers maintenance needs and increases the machine’s longevity.

Some of the options and accessories available for the Heliarc line include Heliarc Tig outfits, torches, accessories, a work cable, an electrode holder, TC-2B torch control, TC-3A remote torch switch, and a FC-5B foot control.
