Selection of Wire and Flux
Sub Arc Welding Process
Two materials must be selected for submerged arc welding:
welding wire and flux. These should most economically meet
the requirements of the welds to be made.
Two factors influence flux selection:
1)  Performance Features, and
2)  Mechanical Properties.
For many welds, performance features dictate which fluxes
can be used.
Performance features include flux peeling, rust and scale
handling abilities, current carrying capacity, multi-wire
capabilities, and AC operability.
