Building a 1934 Ford Street Rod
Jerry Uttrachi's love affair with hot rods began in the late 1950s. While he was still in high school, he built a 1941 Ford Opera Coupe, using a 1/8" over-bored 1951 Olds engine that he built in his basement. Jerry entered the welding field in 1963. He learned a good bit about welding along the way, eventually becoming the 2007 president of the American Welding Society.

Worm Tracks...Causes and Cures
Have you ever encountered worm tracks in a horizontal fillet when using an E-71T-1 wire? The problem can be easily fixed by switching to an E-70T-1 flat and horizontal position cored wire.

What have you welded lately?

Gary McBride of Duluth, Georgia, created this "lawnmower chopper" by combining a Craftsman LT 4000 lawn mower with the front fork and wheel of a 1960s motorcycle. "This all started on a dare/bet from a friend of mine who said I couldn't do it," Gary says. "That was all I needed." He bought the lawn mower on eBay for $150. The front fork and wheel came from a dismantled 1960s chopper, and the gas tank from a Harley Sportster. The steering neck and bearings were also purchased on eBay.
