Welding Process
Two materials
must be selected for submerged arc welding:
welding
wire and flux. These should most economically meet
the requirements
of the welds to be made.
Two factors
influence flux selection:
1) Performance
Features, and
2) Mechanical
Properties.
For many
welds, performance features dictate which fluxes
can
be used.
Performance
features include flux peeling, rust and scale
handling
abilities, current carrying capacity, multi-wire
capabilities,
and AC operability.
