11 All-State Shield-Free Plus® MP Self-Shielding Flux Cored Welding Wire All Position — DC Straight Polarity (Electrode  – ) General Characteristics No shielding gas required. For single and multiple pass all position welding of mild steels as thin as 1/16" thickness. Use on lap, fillet, and butt welds. Smooth arc action, excellent bead appearance, good wetting action, low spatter, full yet easy to remove slag cover. High travel speed allows higher deposition rate than gas shielded metal arc electrodes. Typical Applications For general purpose mild steel fabrication requiring multiple layers of weld metal. Typical applications include: fabrication and repair of machinery parts, truck bodies, saddles, tanks, hoppers, racks, scaffolding, light angle structurals, joists, small roundabouts; short assembly welds on brackets, clips, etc. Railroad car repairs. For single or multipass applications on thin gauge mild or galvanized steel. Qualities Tensile strength up to 91,000 psi. Yield strength up to 65,000 psi. Elongation 22–24%. AWS A5.20, Class E71T-11 Procedures Weld using direct current, electrode negative (DC straight polarity). .045" at 150-200 amps, 17 volts, 124 ipm, 1/2" (12.7mm) stickout. 1/16" at 200 amps, 18 volts, 96 ipm, 1/2" (12.7mm) stickout. Use V knurled drive rolls. Apply 5°–15° leading gun angle in all positions. To develop weld bead, do not weave more than 1/4" (6.4mm). Identification All-State Shield-Free Plus® MP printed on spools and packages. Size and Package .045" (1.2mm) on 25-Ib. (11.34 kg) and 10-lb. (4.54 kg) plastic spools.
