3 All-State® No. 101 and 101FC Trucote® General Purpose Silver Brazing Alloy Torch or Induction Application General Characteristics A general purpose 45% silver brazing alloy, All-State® No. 101 is designed to have very narrow working temperature so the alloy constituents do not liquify and separate when heated slowly such as in furnace brazing. This alloy has excellent capillary flow on ferrous and nonferrous metals or combinations of both (excluding white metals). Typical Applications* Joining metal combinations in both production and maintenance applications. Particularly suited for tight fitting lap, butt, and “T” joints. Due to its low temperature, it is ideal for use on light gauge material. Qualities Tensile strength —up to 52,000 psi (36.57 kgs/mm2) Working temperature —1125°-1145°F (607°-618°C) Corrosion resistance —good AWS A5.8, Class BAg-1 Procedures Thoroughly clean joint area. To obtain high strengths, joint clearance should not exceed .003". Apply All-State® No. 110 or S-200 Flux to joint area; if necessary, thin with alcohol or water. No flux is required when using TRUCOTE® 101FC (Flux coated) rod. Heat work with slightly carburizing flame until flux turns clear. Melt off enough alloy to fill joint completely, keeping torch in constant motion. Allow to cool slowly and then remove flux with hot water.
