All-State Super 18-HI Electrode For High or Low Heat and High Corrosion AC/DC Reverse (+) All Position, Machinable General Characteristics Thermal shock resistance alloy for high and low temperature extremes and rapid changes ranging from 1900°F to –140° F (1050° C to –96° C). Superior corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Works well on small AC machines. Typical Applications Use on clad steel, since it accepts dilution exceptionally well. Joins nickel-to-steel. Excellent toughness and crack resistivity. Suitable for nickel-based alloy types Inconel 600, 625 and 800; and “Super” stainless steels in injection molds, receptacles for chemical and liquid gas industries, cracking installations and heat exchangers. Qualities Tensile Strength —136,000 psi (95 kg/mm2) Yield Strength —95,000 psi (66 kg/mm2) Elongation —40% Hardness —RC 22 (BrineIl 238) Work Hardens —up to RC 45 (BrineIl 428) Procedures Clean weld area. Preheat heavy sections. Use lowest amperage feasible with a short gap and stringer beads. Back whip at end of each bead. Vertical: weld bottom up with close arc and a 2X weave.
