All-State® Nickel NC Super Machinable Nickel Electrode for Cast Iron with a Non-conductive Flux Coating DC Reverse (+) or AC General Characteristics This totally non-conductive cast iron electrode does not side arc even after being heated. It’s unusually strong arc drive penetrates oil and grease easily. Typical Applications Very soft machinable welds on all weldable cast iron. Specially suited for welding in deep recesses or close quarters. Non-conductive coating will not side arc, therefor ideal for repairing inner engine block parts. Qualities Tensile strength—up to 55,000 psi (38 kgs/mm2) Yield strength—up to 38,000 psi (27 kgs/mm2) Elongation—10% Hardness—RB 80-84 Welding Positions Flat, Vertical up, Vertical down, Horizontal, Overhead Procedures Clean base metal and preheat according to type of casting. Use the smallest electrode possible to properly do the job in order to minimize heat input. Maintain a close arc gap and move rapidly in the direction of travel. Slag can be welded over without prior removal.
