5 All-State Super Join-M® Specially Designed for Build-up Prior to Hardfacing AC or DC Reverse Polarity General Characteristics Smooth weld characteristics. Specially designed for severe impact and multi-pass build-ups on both manganese and iron base alloys. Ideal for joining dissimilar and welding problem steels. Resistant to corrosion from water, steam and mild corrosives at temperatures up to 512°F (267°C). Typical Applications Repair and build-up railroad tracks, frogs and switches. For mill, quarry and gravel plant crushing hammers. Also for attaching dipper teeth and welding the roller circle to ring gear in excavators. Qualities Tensile strength —up to 100,000 psi (70.32 kgs/mm2) Hardness —200 BrineIl as welded Work Hardens —300-400 Brinell depending on base metal Procedures Clean weld area. Use All-State® Chamfer Rod to remove work-hardened and damaged metal. Do not preheat manganese steel. Weld in short lengths (3 to 4 inches (75mm to 100mm) using skip and backstepping welding techniques. Base metal should never reach 600°F (316°C) 1/2" (12.7mm) away from weld area. Peen deposits to both shape and reduce stresses. Remove slag between passes. Allow to cool slowly. Diameters and Recommended Amperages 1/8" (3.2mm)—90-120 5/32" (4.0mm)—120-160 3/16" (4.8mm)—160-190
