Build-Up Alloys All-State Roll Matrix® Machinable Build-up and Underlay Electrode for Low Alloy and Abrasion Resistant Steels AC or DC Reverse Polarity (Electrode +) All Position General Characteristics Completely machinable deposit for heavy impact and compression on abrasion resistant, carbon and low alloy steels. Deposits have excellent toughness and resistance to deformation. They can be forged and flame cut and will respond to heat treatment. Typical Applications Ideal for tractor pads and rollers, sprockets, idlers, hammers, wobblers, excavators, shafts, gear teeth, steel mill roll necks and ends, and all carbon steel parts requiring build-up prior to hardsurfacing. Qualities Tensile strength —up to 105,000 psi (73.84 kgs/mm2) Hardness —25 to 30 Rockwell C Procedures Clean weld area. Use All-State® Chamfer Rod to remove fatigued or damaged metal. Preheat is usually not necessary but heavy sections may require a preheat of 200°-300°F (93°-149°C). Hold a short to medium arc length. Remove all slag between passes. Use stringer or weave beads. Do not allow excessive heat build-up. Allow part to cool slowly.
